What are we hiring for

We are building the development team that will join the founders to launch Zeem, a solution that improves viral outbreak management systems for people, businesses and governments, globally. Zeem, powers up the NHS track and trace system with 98% coverage of the UK from day 1, returns peoples shopping experiences to normal and relieves the businesses of the stress managing COVID.

We are looking for a junior developer to work with our CTO and Lead Engineer to build the first iteration of Zeem, a key part of the team making living in the new world safer.

What will you do

Initially, you will focus on helping our CTO and lead engineer with back-end development of Zeem meaning you’ll be dealing with back-end coding languages (mainly Ruby on Rails), development frameworks and libraries. In particular, you will:

  • Work with the CTO and lead engineer to build the scalable architecture
  • Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications
  • Write APIs
  • Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
  • Create security and data protection settings
  • Write technical documentation

As part of a small start-up, you will be exposed to every part of the business and have the opportunity to expand your skillset and get involved in other aspects that excite you.

About you
  • More than anything, we are looking for someone who has a passion to make the world a better place
  • Second that we are looking for someone who has an entrepreneurial spirit, to us, that means, you see problems as an opportunity to get stuck in with the team and find a path to success.
  • Having relevant experience in finance, software development and, or data science is a bonus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
  • We are not precious about your academic background, one of our founders never went to uni, the other has a PhD, a commitment to be better every day is what we will value most (although having off days is cool too!).

What are we hiring for

We are looking for a User Researcher to work with our CEO to user test Zeem, a key part of the team making living in the new world safer.

What will you do

This is a broad role that will see you get involved in all aspects of the business, initially you will focus on helping our CEO to engage with our end-users and complete relevant user testing. In particular, you will:

  • Define and build the user research framework
  • Commission quantitative and qualitative research
  • Engage with both people and businesses through formal and informal interviews
  • Document and present the user research results to the wider team

Other activities may include:

  • Working with the CEO to grow and manage Zeems support network
  • Working with the CEO to manage key supplier relationships
  • Assisting with robust record-keeping
  • Taking a leading role in maintaining and improving Zeems publicly available content
  • Contributing to the future strategy of Zeem

As part of a small start-up, you will be exposed to every part of the business and have the opportunity to expand your skillset and get involved in other aspects that excite you.

About you

What are we hiring for

We are looking for a Junior Project Manager to help lead our grant-funded project to develop Zeem. You’ll be helping to direct the team making living in the new world safer.

What will you do

You will be working to make sure the Zeem team delivers on the project plan created as a condition of our grant funding, you will get to work with every part of the company to do it. In particular, you will:

  • Monitor performance against the plan
  • Manage internal stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery
  • Identify and manage current and emerging project risks
  • Play a part in leading the agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups etc)
  • Manage and update the project plan
  • Monitor and manage the project finances
  • Maintain strong relationships with external suppliers

  • Problems and things going wrong do not scare you, you like to face them head-on and find a solution
  • You’re outspoken and not afraid of challenging others to make sure the right outcome is achieved
  • This is a mission-critical role and we’re looking for the right person to have a track record of managing projects, it’s a bonus if you have a project qualification such as PRINCE2 or Agile
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
