What are the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals? 🎯

3 min read

The Sustainable Development Goals (sometimes referred to as SDGs) are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They were set out by the United Nations and adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They exist to address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.

There are 17 Goals in total and they’re all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.

They are a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
